Lean Six Sigma Green & black belt

Lean Six Sigma is a management approach to business performance improvement that has blended the two individual specialisms of Lean and Six Sigma together. This blend is designed to enable organizations to achieve the qualitative benefits of Six Sigma but at faster pace by applying Lean principles at the same time.

/ WHAT IS

The application of Lean Six Sigma allows for remarkable quality and efficiency improvements to be realised. Lean Six Sigma combines Lean Manufacturing (originally developed by Toyota) and Six Sigma (originally developed by Motorola).

These quality management strategies are widely used worldwide, with proven success stories in a wide variety of industries and services driven organizations.

Fundamentally Six Sigma strives to reduce process variations and errors, using a systematic approach of DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control) to determine and improve all processes to a Six Sigma level that always meets client expectations.

Belt LevelFor
Yellow BeltAnyone who wants to learn basic Lean Six Sigma principles and the most important Lean Six Sigma tools
Orange BeltAnyone who is directly or indirectly involved in process improvement in his / her own work environment or as a team member of a larger Six Sigma project.
Green BeltDepartment managers, Software developers, engineers, process engineers, Business Relationship managers, and process managers working directly on process improvements as team members or project leaders. Responsible for the efficient arrangement and execution of processes to achieve significant improvement in lead time and quality through the right combination of Lean Management, Statistic analysis and Lean Six Sigma methodology.
Black BeltProject managers, department managers, senior engineers, process engineers and consultants leading process improvement projects as project managers and coaching and guiding others.

/ APPROACH & DURATION

The event is delivered by an experienced and accredited trainer who will facilitate interactive group work and encourage the learning experience through the use of multiple training mediums, group work and exercises.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt: 8 days

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt: 16 days (Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a pre-requisite)

/LEAN SIX SIGMA GREEN BELT

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt specialists are responsible for process planning and process optimisation. With the right combination of specialised expertise, statistical analysis and the structured lean six sigma methodology, lean six sigma green belts are capable of achieving significant quality and performance improvements.

Theory Exam
Take the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognized certificate from the Lean Six Sigma Academy. We provide a training manual and exercise pack.

Exam Format

The exam consists of a theoretical and a practical (assignments) part, according to the LSSA guidelines, it is:

  • Multiple choice, 60 questions, 38 marks or 63% required to pass in 180 minutes
  • Open-book
  • Calculators are permitted
  • 2 Practical project assignments must be completed and submitted.

Practical Assessment

  • This step towards achieving the complete Green Belt certificate involves the submission of two Lean Six Sigma projects to APMG for assessment.
  • Each project must demonstrate an achievement of saving / cost avoidance of at least € 20,000 per year.
  • Each project must be signed-off by the Champion and Financial Controller.
  • The Practical Assessment must be taken within 3 years of successfully completing the theory exam.

/ BENEFITS

Lean Six Sigma certification offers the following benefits for organizations and individuals:

  • An improved understanding and awareness of Lean Six Sigma practices
  • The ability to analyse and adapt/refine processes to improve efficiency and remove waste
  • The tools and practices to reduce process variation and improve quality and consistency
  • The principles and techniques to improve existing processes and develop effective new ones
  • Added value for customers, employees and shareholders through reduced process variation and waste
