Lean Six Sigma – Green and Black Belt

The application of Lean Six Sigma allows for remarkable quality and efficiency improvements to be realised. Lean Six Sigma combines Lean Manufacturing (originally developed by Toyota) and Six Sigma (originally developed by Motorola).

These quality management strategies are widely used worldwide, with proven success stories in a wide variety of industries and services driven organizations.

Fundamentally Six Sigma strives to reduce process variations and errors, using a systematic approach of DMAIC  (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control) to determine and improve all processes to a Six Sigma level that always meets client expectations.

Lean Six Sigma Levels

Belt LevelFor
Yellow BeltAnyone who wants to learn basic Lean Six Sigma principles and the most important Lean Six Sigma tools
Orange BeltAnyone who is directly or indirectly involved in process improvement in his / her own work environment or as a team member of a larger Six Sigma project.
Green BeltDepartment managers, Software developers, engineers, process engineers, Business Relationship managers, and process managers working directly on process improvements as team members or project leaders. Responsible for the efficient arrangement and execution of processes to achieve significant improvement in lead time and quality through the right combination of Lean Management, Statistic analysis and Lean Six Sigma methodology.
Black BeltProject managers, department managers, senior engineers, process engineers and consultants leading process improvement projects as project managers, and coaching and guiding others.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt specialists are responsible for process planning and process optimisation. With the right combination of specialised expertise, statistical analysis and the structured lean six sigma methodology, lean six sigma green belts are capable of achieving significant quality and performance improvements.

Content

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training is certified by APMG International and follows the LSSA (Lean Six Sigma Academy) syllabus, covering the following

  • Lean Management Principles (Value, Flow, Pull)
  • Project Management (Roles & Responsibilities, Project Charter, DMAIC)
  • Voice of the Customer & CTQ Flowdown
  • Process Performance Metrics
  • Process Flow Mapping & SIPOC

  • DOE – Design of Experiments
  • Kaizen Continuous Improvement / PDCA
  • Test exam

Event and Certification

Take the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognized certificate from the Lean Six Sigma Academy. We provide a training manual and exercise pack.

The exam consists of a theoretical and a practical (assignments) part, according to the LSSA guidelines, it is:

  • Multiple choice, 60 questions, 38 marks or 63% required to pass in 180 minutes
  • Open-book
  • Calculators are permitted
  • 2 Practical project assignments must be completed and submitted.

Duration is 8 days.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

Lean Six Sigma Black Belts are both project managers and specialists, responsible for the development of new production and improvement processes. They are both process analysts, responsible for analyzing and optimizing processes as well as change managers, responsible for implementing an effective organization. These professionals can combine analytical tools with aspects of change management.

On completion of this training, the delegate will have developed an extensive set of tools to analyse processes, to objectively assess process performance and use statistics to support findings. They will learn how organisations can design more efficient and effective processes. This translates into lower operating costs, higher customer satisfaction and an effective organisation.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training includes a number of specific Black Belt subjects such as:

  • Designing and performing experiments using Design of Experiments (DOE, RSM)
  • Statistical analyzes (Non-normal data, multiple regression, transformations)
  • Analysis of attributive data (Chi-square, attributive agreement)
  • Hoshin planning, project selection & project tracking
  • CAP – Change Acceleration Process & human dynamics
