Power Project Planning & Scheduling

If there is one skill all project managers should have, it’s planning and scheduling. And yet very few project managers follow a disciplined approach that leads to a sensible and structured schedule supported by a plan. Many project managers have to rely on experience and “gut feel”, so difficult to share with inexperienced and new project managers. In fact they often share experience that is really their bad habits repeated over many years of poorly planned and overdue projects.

This specialized and vital event should be attended by anyone who is involved in project planning, takes planning seriously, and wants to improve their planning and scheduling skills in line with best practice. It is applicable for all project managers, team leads and project administrators in all industries, public and private sectors, and regardless of the methodology applied.

/ WHAT IS

This event fills that knowledge vacuum; it is applicable for all project managers, team leads and project administrators in all industries, public and private sectors, and regardless of the methodology applied.

The planning approach taught in this crucial event is a combination of typical “body of knowledge” activity planning, product based planning (PBP), and even brings in and integrates aspects of Agile planning to complete the picture. Product based planning is a planning innovation brought to us by the PRINCE2 method, whilst activity planning is the de facto standard for most of the bodies of knowledge.

/ APPROACH AND DURATION

The event will be delivered by an experienced trainer who will facilitate the group through a very activity orientated and hands on approach, giving you an informative experience that will facilitate your learning experience.

Some knowledge of planning and scheduling is required, and attendees should have at least 1 years’ experience in project administration or project management. Terms like PRINCE2, Agile, Critical path and dependencies should be familiar to the delegate.

Delegates are assessed through observation of their contribution and participation during case study exercises and group discussions when they participate in the Power Project Planning and Scheduling training event.

Workshop exercises are followed by thorough debriefing sessions, which allow participants’ questions to be answered and facilitate practical and useful discussions. Follow-up assignments are not part of this workshop offering, but may be designed and conducted upon request.

You will be able to take advantage of both product and activity planning by integrating the two, and you will understand what many do not, that the PRINCE2 based product planning is designed to work effectively with PMI’s PMBoK (or any other body of knowledge).

You will be able to decide on the appropriate scale of planning to apply, and how to take advantage of some Agile planning principles and techniques where appropriate.
